Storyland Yoga Review and Giveaway-Winner Selected

Storyland Yoga is a fun-filled adventure that infuses children with an eco-conscious message.  Two unique stories,  Save the Whale” and “Condor Trek” engage a child’s imagination through storytelling.  Kid’s learn yoga postures by becoming part of the story and imitating animals. Yoga is great exercise and helps to calm children giving them greater focus and increased clarity.  Storyland Yoga is equally fun for parents and family members who can benefit from yoga, while enjoying ‘organic time’ with their children.
That is what Karen Duggan, founder of Playful Planet, had to say about Storyland Yoga.  And here is what I have to say:
When I first got this kids yoga DVD, geared towards ages 3-8, I wasn't sure that any of my kids were going to be into it.  I have never introduced them to Yoga before and wasn't even sure they would like it.  When the DVD arrived, I placed it in the DVD and went back to what I was doing, just to see the kids' reactions.  I was very shocked at which child's attention it grabbed first.  It grabbed "D"'s (5 year old boy) attention first.  He sat and watched Condor Trek (Run Time: 23:18) first.  It played through and he just sat and watched.  When it was over he wanted to watch it again so we put Condor Trek on for a second play through.  Within no time he was doing all the moves.  It didn't grab the other children's attention hardly at all, that is until "D" started showing them all the poses.  Now they are all into it.  "D" likes to do the yoga at least twice a day while the other children like to do it once.  Ahmed, the instructor, is a great story teller and is great at keeping the kids' attention.  I think it also helps that they show other children on the DVD doing these yoga poses.   I think "D"'s favorite pose might be either the snake or the bear (as Ahmed calls them).  All the poses in this DVD can easily be done by all the children that watched this DVD (ages 3-10).  Even Hubby got in on some Yoga and did a few minutes with "D".  The DVD also offers Save the Whale (Run Time: 18:30), they enjoyed it, as well, but they keep coming back to Condor Trek.  I think it's amazing that Ahmed can keep the kids at home focused for 23 minutes and 18 seconds.

What's more is that there are tons of benefits of Yoga.  Some benefits are is that it's good for the mind and body.  It improves oxygen intake which helps the heart and lungs function better.  It also improves concentration and focus and increases the flexibility and mobility of the joints.  It also aids circulation, energy-flow, digestion, and elimination.  Yoga is something that the whole family can get into together.

    1. I was shocked too..about at the 19 minute mark, I had to get them refocused but that was super simple to do. Just had to ask them "What did Ahmed just ask you to do?" and they were refocused. I think its because as he is doing the Yoga he is telling a story that makes them sort of act out the story thru Yoga Poses.

  20. My daughter's taking a yoga class right now and she loves it. Her favorite pose is the "foot phone" - not sure if it's a real pose, but she tries to balance on her butt while putting both feet up to her ears!

    1. I think a few of the pose names are made up to catch the children's attention, which is just fine by me. I can actually imagine my kids doing the "foot phone" and giggling so hard doing it. I am going to have to have them try that one.
