Paper Hat Press Review and Giveaway

I never heard of Paper Hat Press but was intrigued by their concept so I decided to check a little more into it.  Paper Hat Press has four hardback books to choose from.  There are several things that make Paper Hat press.

These books can be customized by creating a character to look like your child including skin tone, adding your child's name right into the book.  Some of the books you can add where your child lives and others you can adjust hair color and eye color of your character.

Since it was close to my (now) 9 year old's birthday, we chose to review Whose Birthday is it?, written by Erica Jacobs Green.  This book is geared towards boys and girls aged 2-10.  You can customize it by  choosing the number on the hat, the city where he/she lives (or will have their party), adding their name, adding a special message on the first page (under the character, mine said "To "T", the birthday girl, from your loving family") and the character's skin tone. 

In this story Invitations (customized with the city and child's birthday date) get sent for the birthday girl/boy's party.  The cat gets the cake (customized with Happy Birthday to your child's name) all ready.  The monkeys set the decorations.  The kangaroo tests the kazoos.  The bear blows up the balloons. But the reader (your child) still doesn't know who the birthday party is for.  Then on the end page it tells them.

I showed just about everyone before I gave it to "T" for her birthday.  Everyone loved it.  Some comments were on how cute the characters were, others comments on how thick the hardback was, others commented  on the thick pages.  Everyone loved the last page (featured above).  My favorite part probably has to be the last page to.  I was so touched that it was customized to my Baby Girl.  When "T" opened it, she began reading it right away.  She was shocked it had number 9 on the hat.  She kept reading and then she exclaimed that it said her city.  I told her to keep reading.  Her next comment was how darned cute the monkeys were (she actually said darned cute).  Then when it asked But whose Birthday was it?  She said she thought it was a dog's birthday because she hasn't saw the dog yet.  She turned the page and screeched, "It says Happy Birthday to MEEEEEE!".  That moment right there made this book worth it.  After she was done reading the book she followed the simple to read instructions (with diagram) to construct her paper hat, which she wore for the rest of the day.  It is actually still sitting on her dresser (it's been two weeks now).
