Contour Ab Belt review and GIVEAWAY

As you all know I had a baby about 6 months ago.  You also know, especially if you have children, that it's sometimes hard to loose those stubborn baby weight pounds after you given birth to your bundle of joy.  Finding the time and even the energy can be hard.  I recently had the joy of trying out the Contour Ab Belt to help in my trek to not only loose the baby weight from my most recent pregnancy but all my pregnancy.  Having 5 babies in 10 years is really hard on the body and since I am done having kids, I decided it's time to get more fit so I can enjoy every moment with my children.

You do have to do work when using the Contour Ab Belt, but it helps get you to your weight goal faster.  By following a diet and doing a nightly walk and using the Contour Ab Belt at least once a day, sometimes twice if I feel ambitious, I am loosing weight I have found in past years too stubborn to budge.  If you have already reached your weight goal, first of all way to go!  But also the Contour Ab Belt helps to tone the abs after your weight goal is met.

The Contour Ab Belt works by stimulating the muscles.  From their own words:

Electromuscle Stimulation (EMS or eStim) devices generate electrical impulses that trigger an action potential in muscle nerve fibers (motor neurons). This is done by sending small, safe electrical impulses to the muscles via specially designed, medical grade electrodes that adhere on the surface of the skin just above where the nerves attach to the muscles. (found here)
This is what they recommend:

The Contour Core Sculpting System Ab Belt, featuring the e3 plan, will take you beyond diet and exercise and help you achieve your goals.
  1. eat sensibly - follow the diet guide included with the Contour system to help reduce the layer of body fat covering your midsection.
  2. exercise regularly
  3.  - we've included a 12-week exercise program to help you boost your metabolism.
  4. eStim - The Contour M2 muscle stimulator and Ab Belt will allow you to eliminate the need to do traditional ab exercises. With the Contour Ab Belt you can get 150 perfect contractions in a session. And, best of all you can get in a workout while you go about your daily routine.

This is what I did.  I was already eating sensibly so that was a snap.  I already walked nightly, I just stepped up how long I walked a little bit.  Then I added the Ab Belt.  At first I used it while I wrote my reviews.  Then I started to use it while I did chores.  Now I use it on my nightly walks and sometimes while I do my daily chores.  It's very compact so it travels easily.  You can wear the Ab Belt without anyone noticing it too.  If you wear a tight shirt then they will see the control pack.  It's simple to use too.  You attach the pad using their diagrams on the back of the belt, and then attach the wires, put on the belt and set the program you want.  You can adjust the intensity so you can have complete control.

Additionally if you ever have a sore muscle just attach the pads to the muscle for a deep muscle stimulation (massage).  Sometimes you need to adjust the pads to get it to work but it does work.  It says that you can use it for sore muscle in the manual but after using the unit for the first time I noticed it was like a super strong extra large TENS unit type thing.

In a nutshell, if you need help loosing the extra stubborn pounds, need toning, or need to try to jump start your weight loss, the Contour Ab Belt is a great investment.  I have a ways to go but it sure helped to start me on my way to my goals.

Disclosure: I received product(s) free of charge to help craft my review.   In no way did the free product(s) sway my opinion.  My opinions are solely that of my own.

UPDATE!  After the wonderful people at Contour read my review they asked if I would be interested in offering a belt to one lucky The Momma Blogger reader.  Ummm, that would be a yup, sure would!  So here is the giveaway:

    1. Hi Lorrie,

Thank you for your comment. I use the belt in addition to natural ways to reduce weight such as night-time walking and yoga. I also am eating right. All very important keystones to great weight loss.

  8. It can recruit and synchronize more fibers in any muscle group to perform work or exercise. The brain typically recruits only about 40-50% of the muscle fibers.

  10. My weight loss tip: It is the same old same old, but nothing ELSE works.... stop eating the junk food! Learn that fruits and nuts and lemon water is your best friend. NO MORE sugary drinks, just stop and just drink some water or lemon water.

JUST doing this alone, will start your flab loss! Add some walking each day, slowing increasing your speed and miles... I lost 40lbs just doing this!!

You know you watch TV or sit on the computer for a couple hours a day, you know it.. you have to just get up one hour a day instead!

  14. My favorite weight loss tip is to exercise portion control. A lot of people don't seem to realize how much they are putting on their plates when they eat. I try to pay attention to that but i still slip up. :)

  27. I learned:
Question: Can I injure myself using too high of an intensity level?
Answer: No. When used as directed it is not possible to injure yourself because the current is regulated over the course of the contraction period to avoid any risk of muscle damage.

  39. The Contour is not intended to treat or rehabilitate muscles. There are other devices with specific electronic frequencies designed to specifically treat damaged muscles. The Contour is great for post-injury or stimulating weak, but healthy muscles. If is more efficient to work post-injury muscles or weak muscles with the Contour because the muscles can be specifically targeted, which is difficult with most traditional forms of exercise.

    is what I learned

I've been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this. Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.

  41. Ab belt was used specifically for muscle rehabilitation prior to it being now used to enhance as well as strengthen any muscle tissue. The advantage of an Ab flex belt is that it allows you to go about your daily routine while burning calories which is absolutely fantastic for those that don't have the time to perform daily exercises.
